A 14-year-old girl who claims she was dragged across the street by her hair and attacked by a gang of around 30 girls said she is now petrified of walking around North Finchley.

She said the attack happened just minutes before a gang fitting the same description mobbed a music teacher at Tally Ho Corner, leaving him traumatised and unable to work because of his injuries.

The gang of girls, aged between 15 and 18, and described as mostly black or mixed race' set upon the girl at around 4.30pm, on November 15, as she walked along High Street, North Finchley, with three friends.

She said: "We walked past Fitness First in High Road and saw a group of about 30 girls and about ten boys. They were all being really loud and two of them started to push into me.

"One of them ran up to me and pushed me to the floor. She grabbed my hair and dragged me across the road.

"They then began kicking and punching me, and I felt a glass bottle hit me. I managed to run into a nearby fish and chip shop for help, but they waited for me outside and the shop owners told me to get out. Then my friend's mum arrived and picked us up.

"I'm scared to walk there now - I've always seen them around and have managed to avoid them."

The girl, who is currently sitting exams, said she is too frightened to approach police for fear of a reprisal attack. Her friends went to find help while the alleged attack took place.
