Fairclough: We should have scored more

Barnet manager Paul Fairclough was not totally satisfied with this afternoon's 5-2 win over Lincoln - and neither were the players.

He said: "If you saw the faces of my players in the dressing room afterwards, you would have thought we had lost. We won 5-2, but it almost felt like a defeat for the fact we conceded two late goals."

Though the Bees eased off in the latter stages, that was the only disappointment of a fine performance.

Fairclough added: "We were fantastic at times today. It was just a shame we didn't keep the momentum going because we could have scored seven or eight goals. But if someone had said before the game that we would win 5-2, I would have taken that."

And Fairclough was delighted with those that came into the side at late notice. Injuries to key players Ismail Yakubu, Neal Bishop and Cliff Akurang did not prove crucial. Two of those that came in got on the scoresheet, with Adam Birchall netting a brace and Max Porter his first goal for the club.

Fairclough said: "It's great when you see players pick up the baton and do so well."

Now Fairclough is looking forward to Monday's trip to Macclesfield, the Bees going for a third win on the trot.

"We will go to Macclesfield with real optimism and enthusiasm. We've got a bit of momentum going now.

"We've now scored eight in two games. A couple of weeks ago, we didn't know where a goal was going to come from and now they are coming from all areas."
