Visionary show in Potters Bar library

New software assisting visually impaired people will be on display at a Potters Bar library next week.

Screen-reading software, electronic magnifiers and other innovative aids for visually impaired people will be featured at a special Sight Information event between 10am and 2pm on May 20 at Oakmere Library, in High Street, as part of Adult Learners' Week.

The event is being organised by the Hertfordshire Library Service and Hertfordshire Society for the Blind, and is supported by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.

Hertfordshire executive member for education and culture, Keith Emsall, said: "Hertfordshire libraries are continuing to keep abreast of new developments in technology that can help to make life easier for visually impaired people.

"We are pleased to be working with the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind on this and other events to raise awareness of the wide range of services now available."

Tony Edwards, CEO for the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind, said: "This is just the type of community event that the lottery funding aims to provide, and working in partnership with Hertfordshire Libraries is a very proactive way of supporting people with a visual impairment in the Potters Bar area."

More details are available from the library by contacting 01438 737333, or 01923 471333 for area codes 01923 or 020, or from Hertfordshire Society for the Blind on 01992 588145.
