Golders Green police station has won a gardening award thanks to the efforts of a green-fingered officer.
The London Gardens Society, part of the Met Police, named the station one of the greenest in London at an awards ceremony last week.
The judging took place in July when the blooms were at their height and the judges praised the station garden for its flowers, shrubs and hanging baskets.
The work was spearheaded by green-fingered PCSO Janet Lucas.
As well as planting flowers she also sowed runner beans and tomatoes throughout the summer.
Inspector Stephen Marsh said: "Janet’s work to make our corner of Golders Green more beautiful and colourful was truly fantastic and she deserves all the credit for us picking up this award.
"A bit of brightness goes a long way and this was recognised by the judges earlier this year.
"I am sure that Janet will hope to replicate and build on her display for next year, which will be something for passers-by in Golders Green to look forward to in 2009."
