In response to Mr Ramshaw (British National Party is very un-British', Letters, March 9): presumably our ancestors would be quite happy if they knew that consecutive Labour and Tory governments over the past 50 years have turned our once-safe nation into one in which our elderly are afraid to leave their homes; that they have handed over our sovereignty to the bureaucrats in Brussels; that they have turned our once-green and pleasant land into a land of asphalt and concrete and pollution; that trendy' teaching methods have made Britain one of the most poorly educated nations in Europe; and that under present trends, their own descendants will be a minority in their own country within the next century.

Or perhaps not.

As for Mr Ramshaw's claim that our entire appeal' is based on negative emotions', what could be more positive than a love for one's own nation and a hope to secure a future for British children?
