London's longest-serving cab driver, Alfred Collins, has died at the age of 92 following a heart attack.
Mr Collins, of Braemar Gardens, Colindale, featured in this newspaper in March, after Transport for London presented him with a special award to mark almost 70 years of service.
He worked until the age of 89, with famous passengers including Margaret Thatcher, Bruce Forsyth and Joan Collins. He died on Friday.
His daughter, Diane Marcovitch, who lives in Essex, said: "He had a wonderful life. He used to go for a walk every day and he'd go and have a bet. I would telephone him every morning to wake him up and when I called on Friday he said he had been in pain all night. He said his chest hurt and I called my sister, Maureen, because she lives in Watford."
Mr Collins was taken to Northwick Park hospital but died later. His funeral took place in Essex on Monday.
He leaves two daughters, three grandsons and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Betty, died in February last year.
