A father who stood up to a man who damaged his wife's car was shot in front of his three children, a court heard this week.

David Gaynor, 19, of Shoot Up Hill, Cricklewood, arrived at the Tottenham home of Douglas Mullings, 33, and, took aim at short range and shot him in the back of his head in the presence of his wife, two stepdaughters and ten-year-old son' before calmly walking away, prosecutor Bobbie Cheema told an Old Bailey jury.

Gaynor's friend Simeon Szypusz, 19, crashed his Mercedes car into Mr Mullings' Honda on May 30 last year, but refused to accept responsibility, the court heard.

After a heated row with Mr Mullings, 33, Szypusz called Gaynor, a member of the Meridian Crew' a street gang to the scene in Tottenham, it was claimed.

Gaynor is said to have pulled out a shotgun and shot Mr Mullings in the back of the head as he tried to run back into the house with his family.

The court was told of an ongoing neighbours' dispute in the area after one family allowed their home in Meridian Close, Tottenham, to be used for a pirate radio station.

Teenagers attracted to the street formed the Meridian Crew' and raced cars around the estate, causing disturbances late at night.

Mr Mullings was one of the neighbours who complained and would ask the gang to keep their dogs under control.

He was seriously injured in the attack and has been unable to give evidence. Gaynor was later picked out on an identity parade but made no comment.

Gaynor and Szypusz, along with Merrick Hamilton, 19, of Trafalgar Avenue, Tottenham, and Steven Allen, 19, from West Beach Road, Wood Green, deny attempted murder.

Gaynor and Allen also deny making use of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The trial continues.
